Building the future of AI — Together
Meta is seeking electric cooperative partners to bring large-scale data center investment to rural America.

The communities served by America’s electric cooperatives are built on a simple idea: when people work together, everyone benefits. At Meta, we believe the same.
As we expand our data center portfolio to support the next generation of AI and digital services, we’re looking for partners with land and a path to 540 MW+ of reliable, scalable energy supply by 2030.
All submissions are treated confidentially.

Why electric cooperatives?
We’re interested in partnering with electric co-ops because of what makes you unique:
- Commitment to members — We want partners who help ensure data center load benefits — not burdens — their existing members.
- Deep community roots — Co-ops are owned by the members they serve. That alignment of interests is what we look for in a long-term partner.
- Innovative and adaptive — From pioneering rural electrification to adopting modern grid technologies, co-ops have always found ways to meet new challenges.
What we are looking for
Meta evaluates potential data center sites based on several key factors:
- A path to reliable, scalable energy supply of 540MW+ by 2030
- Ability for Meta to bring new grid-connected system resources online
- Access to or potential for renewable energy resources
- Available land (typically 500+ acres with expansion potential)
- Water availability for closed-loop cooling
- Supportive community
- Talented workforce for construction and operations

What meta brings to your community
Our data centers aren’t just facilities — they’re investments in the communities where we operate:
- $1B+ in capital investment — Meta has committed billions to individual data center projects, with millions directed toward local infrastructure improvements including roads, water systems, transmission lines, and fiber optic connectivity.
- Jobs — A Meta data center can support 100+ direct operational jobs, hundreds of indirect jobs, and over 1,000 construction jobs at peak.
- Cost responsibility — We pay the full costs of our data centers’ energy and water use so they aren’t passed on to consumers, and fund new and upgraded infrastructure.
- Clean and renewable energy — Meta data centers’ energy use is matched with 100% clean and renewable energy. We’ve contracted over 30 GW of new clean energy capacity to the grid — energy that benefits the entire system.
- Water positive — Our goal is to become water positive by 2030, meaning we aim to restore 200% of consumption in high-water-stress regions and 100% of consumption in medium-water-stress regions.
- Community investment programs — From workforce development and local hiring to annual community contributions and STEM education initiatives, we invest in the long-term vitality of communities we call home.
