Hello, Tulsa!

Tulsa, Oklahoma, will be home to our next AI data center — part of our highly advanced global infrastructure that helps bring our technologies and services to life, connecting billions of people around the world.

Once completed, the Tulsa Data Center will represent an investment of more than $1 billion in the state of Oklahoma. Meta is also investing more than $25 million in local infrastructure improvements, including roads and water infrastructure. Meta anticipates that more than 1,000 construction workers will be onsite at the peak of construction, and the data center will support approximately 100 jobs once operational. Job opportunities will be available on the Meta Careers page in the coming weeks. For construction information and job opportunities with Fortis Construction, please visit tulsaokdatacenter.com.

Tulsa stood out as an ideal location for Meta to call home for a number of reasons. This community has a talented workforce along with access to reliable infrastructure. Meta has also found a great set of community partners that have helped us move this project forward. Meta is thrilled to be a new member of the Tulsa community and is committed to investing in its long-term vitality.

As part of that commitment, Meta is excited to share that we are partnering with Eastside Rise to expand its neighbourhood enhancement program across East Tulsa, where our data center is located — supporting projects that range from community gardens and public art to homeowner repairs.

Meta is also partnering with Tulsa Tech and Tulsa Community College to support a new, cross-institutional workforce development program and learning lab for digital infrastructure careers. We anticipate this partnership will create a pipeline of more than 200 graduates annually in technical trades — including cooling simulation, fibre optics, and structured cabling — along with AI and data analytics programming.

Once the data center is operational, we look forward to launching our Data Center Community Action Grants program in Tulsa — an annual program created to address local needs by putting technology to use for community benefit, enabling people to build strong, sustainable communities, and improving STEAM education.

Building with sustainability in mind is important to us. Meta prioritizes water stewardship, and we have a global goal to be water positive in 2030. That means we will restore more water than we consume to local watersheds. Meta is partnering with Phytech on a water restoration project that will provide irrigation technology to local farmers, helping them minimize water withdrawal while optimizing yields, saving energy, and reducing costs. This 10-year project will implement Phytech’s innovative plant-sensor technology across approximately 1,500 acres of vital commodity crops — including corn, soybeans, and winter wheat — to save more than 50 million gallons of water per year.

We also plan to add enough clean energy to the grid to match 100% of the electricity use of our Tulsa Data Center. We have a long history of successfully adding energy projects in Oklahoma — as of today, we have projects under contract that are adding more than 1,500 megawatts of new clean energy to the grid in the state.

With all our data centers, we strive to be good neighbors. We pay the full costs of our data centers’ energy use, and water and wastewater service so that consumers are not paying our costs. Meta is honored to partner with the Tulsa Community Foundation to establish a fund that will assist Tulsa residents in paying their water bills and with grants for water service line repair and replacement. Meta is also making an annual contribution to the Public Service Company of Oklahoma’s (PSO) Light a Life Program — an initiative made possible through PSO’s partnership with the Salvation Army. Meta’s donation to Light a Life will provide financial assistance for customers in Oklahoma who are struggling to pay their energy bills. We disclose the water withdrawal and energy use for all our facilities on an annual basis at sustainability.atmeta.com, and will do so for the Tulsa Data Center once it is operational.

Meta is proud to work alongside PartnerTulsa, the City of Tulsa, Tulsa Metropolitan Utility Authority, Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), Fortis Construction, Eastside Rise, Tulsa Tech, Tulsa Community College, Tulsa Community Foundation, and all of our partners that have helped get us to today. Meta is thrilled to call Tulsa home and look forward to having a strong partnership for years to come.
