Kuna, we are online! 

We’re excited to announce that the Meta Kuna Data Center is online and operational – which means it is officially part of the infrastructure that helps bring our technologies and programs to life.

We chose Kuna because of its strong infrastructure, talented workforce, and outstanding community partners. Since breaking ground in 2022, this project has supported 1,600 skilled trade workers at peak construction and represents an investment of more than $1.2 billion in Kuna.

From the beginning, we’ve been committed to being a good neighbor. 

We recently launched the Future is for Everyone Fund, a $1 billion commitment to invest directly in U.S communities where we own and operate data centers – including here in Kuna. The fund builds on our existing direct giving programs, which have to date provided more than $1.5 million in Ada County schools and nonprofits through direct funding. 

We’re committed to minimizing the water we use, and working with local partners to support meaningful water restoration projects. The Kuna Data Center uses a water efficient closed-loop, liquid cooled system that will use zero water for the majority of the year. We also invested more than $100 million in a new water and wastewater system for the City of Kuna. Built for future growth, the system adds capacity to support new homes, businesses, and development.

As part of our water restoration goal to restore more water than we consume in 2030, we’re partnering with Trout Unlimited on the Alta Harris Creek Boise River Side Channel Project, which improves water quality, restores fish passage around Barber Dam, and is expected to return approximately 149 million gallons of water annually to the local watershed.

Like all Meta data centers, the Kuna Data Center’s electricity use is matched with 100% clean and renewable energy. Three Meta-supported projects are adding 645 MW of new renewable energy in Ada County. We also worked closely with Idaho Power years in advance to help plan for our energy needs, including supporting Idaho’s first large-customer green tariff through the Clean Energy Your Way program. And importantly, we pay the full cost of our data center’s energy use so consumers aren’t negatively impacted.
