Supporting our Ohio neighbors – Meta commits $10 million to AEP’s Neighbor to Neighbor Program
We’re proud to call the communities where we have data centers home, and more than the jobs and businesses our data centers support, we want to be good neighbors and community partners. Today, we’re proud to announce our support to AEP Ohio’s Neighbor to Neighbor program with a $10 million donation to help more Ohioans across the state pay their electric bills.
Neighbor to Neighbor lends a hand to people who are experiencing financial hardship and need help getting back on their feet. Administered by the Dollar Energy Fund, the program provides eligible customers with a utility assistance grant applied directly to their electric bill. Grants are provided on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible applicants while funding is available, and customers are limited to one Neighbor to Neighbor grant per program year.
Our $10 million contribution will be provided in $2 million increments over five years, increasing the funding available to help Ohioans more than ten-fold.
“We appreciate Meta’s leadership in supporting Ohioans and showing up for our communities. This is a meaningful and significant contribution that will help customers who are struggling to pay their electric bills,” said AEP Ohio President Marc Reitter.
“We’ve been proud to call Ohio home since 2017, and we’re committed to being a good neighbor. That means investing in the communities we’re part of and paying the full cost of the energy our data centers use — so others are not negatively impacted. That’s why we’re supporting AEP’s Neighbor to Neighbor program, which helps Ohio families with their energy bills,” said Chris Rinkus, Meta’s Public Policy Director for Ohio.
Being part of a community means showing up for it — paying for local infrastructure like new roads, water treatment plants, and grid infrastructure, adding new energy to the grid, supporting water conservation projects, and providing millions in grants year after year to support schools and nonprofits. Supporting Neighbor to Neighbor is one more way we’re living up to that commitment.
