Frequently Asked Questions

The Future is for Everyone Fund is Meta’s $1 billion commitment to invest directly in the U.S. communities that are home to a Meta data center. The Fund supports local schools, nonprofits, and community organizations and  is organized into four focus areas that reflect local priorities: Community Enhancement, Economic Vitality, Education, and Sustainability. It builds on the over $70 million in grant funding we’ve provided to our data center communities since 2011.

Grant applications are accepted from eligible organizations in the communities where Meta has a U.S. data center: generally, registered nonprofits, schools, community organizations and municipalities. Please review the terms and conditions and eligibility requirements to confirm your organization qualifies before applying.

The Fund is intentionally hyper-local. It’s designed to benefit the communities closest to where we build and operate, so eligibility is tied to the specific counties and communities listed for each data center. If your organization sits just outside those boundaries, we encourage you to reach out to your local data center’s Community Engagement Manager — or contact us at CommDev@meta.com — before applying. We’re happy to help you understand eligibility for your location.

The Future is for Everyone Fund supports U.S. data center communities. If your organization is based in one of our international data center communities — Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Singapore, or Sweden — you can apply through our Data Center Community Action Grants program there. You’d apply through the program that covers the community where your organization is based.

Our community grants — the annual open call for local schools, nonprofits, and community organizations that we’ve run for more than 15 years — are now part of the Future is for Everyone Fund. It’s the same longstanding commitment to the places we call home, now brought together under one banner – with even greater opportunities for support.

Yes. Our community grants are now part of the Future is for Everyone Fund, and returning applicants are always welcome. Every time a new funding cycle opens, applications are considered on their own merits against that cycle’s pool of applicants — we encourage you to bring a new project, or a meaningful expansion of an existing one, each time you apply.

Applications are open from September 14 through October 19. To apply, select the application link for the data center nearest you — this takes you to the website of our grants partner, ChangeX, where you’ll complete and submit the application form. Before you begin, please confirm that your organization qualifies and review the terms and conditions. A couple things to keep in mind: projects should include measurable outcomes that can be publicly reported and grant funds are intended to be used within one year of the award.

We don’t set a fixed minimum or maximum. We encourage you to request an amount that fits the scope of your project and the scale of your community — a budget you can realistically put to work and see the benefit of within about a year. If you’re unsure, apply for what you genuinely need to deliver your project’s goals; every application is reviewed on its own merits.

Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis after the call closes on October 19. We’ll announce grant awardees together early in the new year, generally in the January–February timeframe.

Meta partners with ChangeX, a non-profit, on the Future is for Everyone Fund. All applications are submitted through the ChangeX platform, and ChangeX administers all grant awards — reviewing final application scoring and allocating grants to successful applicants. Recipients are asked to provide a report on how the funds are being used and their impact in the community.
