WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

LevelUp Fiber Technician Pathway

Meta is investing in the workforce that’s building America’s digital infrastructure — starting with the communities where we live and work. A free, four-week training program will prepare thousands of people for high-paying fiber technician careers — no experience required.

LevelUp is a program designed to train skilled fiber technicians needed to build the data centers powering American AI and connecting billions of people worldwide.

There are no tuition costs, fees, or financial barriers to entry. CBRE, our operating partner, will run training centers in the United States, with the first cohorts expected to begin in Ohio and Indiana this summer.

Participants will learn to install fiber-optic cables, network equipment, and other infrastructure used inside data centers — the same facilities that help bring Meta technologies and programs to life and connect billions of people worldwide. These high-demand skills are needed across the broader construction and data center industries.

Upon successful completion, graduates will have the opportunity to put their new skills to work at Meta construction sites in the United States through our network of contractors.

Who is it for?

LevelUp is open to anyone interested in becoming a fiber technician — no prior experience required.

Whether you’re a recent high school graduate exploring your options, someone looking to start a new career, or a worker seeking to transition into a high-demand skilled trade, this program is built for you. In four weeks, you’ll gain the hands-on training and technical knowledge to step into a career that’s shaping the future of technology.

These are careers that offer:

  • Competitive earning potential in one of the fastest-growing sectors of the economy
  • Transferable skills valued across the entire construction and data center industry
  • A clear pathway into the skilled trades with room to grow

Why LevelUp?

The demand for data center construction has never been higher, and the workforce needed to meet that demand simply doesn’t exist yet. The U.S. construction industry currently faces a shortage of roughly 349,000 workers, with skilled trades workers particularly in demand. At the same time, data centers are the backbone of the AI revolution, cloud computing, and the digital services billions of people rely on every day. LevelUp is designed to close that gap.

By investing in a dedicated training pipeline, Meta and CBRE are:

  • Addressing a nationwide labor shortage at a critical moment for America’s digital infrastructure
  • Creating accessible career pathways for people who may not have considered — or had access to — skilled trade careers
  • Strengthening the broader construction workforce with graduates whose skills can be applied across industries
  • Investing in America’s workforce and expanding access to skilled trade opportunities that support long-term economic growth in communities across the country

Since 2011, Meta data center projects have supported more than 45,000 skilled trade jobs during construction — with 15,000+ currently on a data center site — and created more than 6,000 permanent operational roles. LevelUp is the next chapter in that commitment — building the workforce of the future.
