GROWING LOCAL ECONOMIES
Building and operating our data centers supports jobs and drives economic growth
Our global fleet of data centers supports thousands of operational jobs and business for a diverse range of suppliers.

Long-term operational jobs
Our data centers support people doing operational jobs — electricians, HVAC specialists, server and network techs, safety and security experts, and engineers — who work together to run some of the world’s most advanced data centers. We work hand in hand with our local data center community partners to promote local opportunities and give them the training and resources they need to succeed in training the local workforce for these roles through programs like Junior Achievement or Be Pro Be Proud.

Advancing skilled trade careers
Since 2010, skilled trades men and women — steel workers, fiber technicians, pipefitters, electricians, carpenters and more — have been building and retrofitting our data centers with local construction contractors across the United States. We’re proud to work with some of the world’s largest general contractors and hundreds of subcontractors across communities where we have data centers.
Our supply chain partners
Through the construction and operation of our data centers, Meta is proud to support billions of dollars in business for a diverse range of companies across our supply chain each year.
Supplying fiber-optic cables for our data center infrastructure
Meta announced an up to $6 billion multiyear partnership with Corning that will supply fiber-optic cables for our data center infrastructure. This agreement enables Corning to expand its manufacturing operations in North Carolina and add new jobs in the state.
Corning’s fiber-optic technology is essential for delivering the speed, reliability, and scale required for the country to remain competitive in the global AI race. By investing in American manufacturing and supply chains, Meta is building a more resilient, sustainable and connected world.

Enabling small business and nonprofit growth
Meta offers free digital resources and training programs, courses, and certifications that help thousands of small businesses and nonprofits across our data center locations use Meta technologies more effectively. Through in-person and online learning, events and practical resources, these programs support business growth by helping organizations build customer relationships, expand their reach, and connect with new audiences across platforms like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
Supporting communities to use AI tools
In 2025, Meta supported community initiatives that use AI tools to expand access to education, innovation and problem-solving. In North Carolina, the Meta Forest City Data Center helped support the opening of Isothermal Community College’s Extended Reality and Artificial Intelligence Lab (XRAIL), a new makerspace providing advanced courses and equitable access to emerging technologies for K-12 partners, local businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs. In Singapore, Meta supported Sustainable Living Lab’s cross-border Youth Development for Climate Tech program, engaging more than 900 students across Singapore, India, and Indonesia to develop technology projects addressing climate challenges using AI tools, including Meta AI.
One year in: Meta Richland Parish Data Center supports Louisiana economy with $875M in contracts
It’s been one year since we broke ground on our Richland Parish Data Center in Louisiana, which will house our largest multi-gigawatt AI training cluster, Hyperion. Once operational, this data center will play a vital role in supporting our technologies and accelerating our progress toward personal superintelligence. We’re excited to share updates on the investments we’ve made as a positive member of the Richland Parish community.
