Hello, El Paso!

El Paso, Texas, will be home to our next state-of-the-art data center — our 25th in the United States and 29th in the world. This almost 1.2 million-square-foot campus will be optimized for our AI workloads as part of the highly advanced infrastructure that helps connect billions of people around the world and will have the ability to scale to 1GW.
Once completed, the El Paso Data Center will represent an investment of more than $1.5 billion and support approximately 100 jobs. We anticipate that more than 1,800 construction workers will be onsite at the peak of construction. For construction information and jobs, please check the JE Dunn and Hensel Phelps websites. Meta job opportunities for the data center will be on the Meta Careers page in a few weeks.
El Paso stood out as an outstanding location for Meta to call home for a number of reasons. This vibrant city has a robust electrical grid and skilled workforce, and the local partners have been instrumental in propelling this project forward. Meta is thrilled to contribute to El Paso’s economic growth and technological advancement, fostering a future of shared success.
Meta looks forward to launching our Data Center Community Action Grants program in the El Paso community in the fall of 2026, where we partner with schools and local nonprofits to help put technology to use for community benefit, enable people to build strong, sustainable communities and improve STEAM education. Meta is also proud to bring programs to Texas that help local small businesses and nonprofits grow their reach, such as our no-cost digital skills training.
Meta custom designs and builds our own industry-leading infrastructure at scale, prioritizing efficiency, flexibility and sustainability. The El Paso Data Center — like all of our operational data center buildings — will achieve LEED® Gold certification. Meta wants to be a positive contributor in communities like El Paso and we have worked closely with El Paso Electric and El Paso Water from the beginning to plan for our data center needs. Additionally, we will work with developers to match this data center’s electricity use with 100% clean and renewable energy.
Meta also prioritizes water stewardship, and has a goal to be water positive in 2030 where we will restore more water than we consume. In El Paso, we will restore 200% of the water consumed by the data center to local watersheds and we are actively working with local partners to identify restoration projects that will also benefit local communities and habitats. To help further this goal, Meta is proud to be partnering with DigDeep, an organization working to close the water access gap affecting nearly 2 million Americans across the country, to bring running water to El Paso communities currently living without this essential resource. In El Paso, Meta is supporting DigDeep’s Colonias Water Project, an initiative that brings clean, running water to area communities that have historically lacked basic services. Meta is also partnering with Texas Water Action Collaborative / Texan By Nature to help expand and catalyze other water restoration partners and projects in El Paso.
Meta is proud to work alongside the Borderplex Alliance, the City of El Paso, Texas, El Paso County, Texas Economic Development, El Paso Electric, El Paso Water, Hensel Phelps, JE Dunn, and all of the partners that have helped get us to today. Meta is thrilled to call El Paso home and excited to be part of the El Paso community, and it looks forward to having a strong partnership for years to come.
