We are expanding the Facebook Altoona Data Center
The rumors are true – we are expanding the Altoona Data Center! We have started construction on two new buildings that will make this campus a total of ten buildings and more than 4.1 million square feet.
Our data center project has already contributed over 8 million construction work hours to the Iowa economy and we are so excited that this work is continuing.
Construction is ongoing on the expansion we announced in 2019 which means crews will be able to roll straight into this new expansion. We anticipate construction will continue through 2023, more than a decade since we first broke ground.
We appreciate the continued support of the City of Altoona, Iowa – Government, City of Bondurant, Iowa Government, Polk County, Greater Des Moines Partnership, Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI), Mid-American Financial Group, Inc, Iowa Economic Development Authority, Governor Kim Reynolds, and the State of Iowa. Iowa is our home and we are so thankful for these partnerships as we continue to build and operate our data center in Altoona for years to come.
