Today, we’re happy to announce that we’re joining the Gallatin community! We just broke ground on our newest data center, located in Sumner County. The Gallatin Data Center will be part of the global infrastructure that brings Facebook apps and services to billions of people around the world. Once completed, this facility will represent an investment of more than $800 million and support approximately 100 jobs.

Even in a competitive environment, Gallatin stood out as a great location for a number of reasons. Community leaders have invested to ensure there is access to infrastructure and renewable energy and a strong pool of talent for both construction and operations. Most important for us, we’ve found great community partners who helped move this project forward.

We believe in being good neighbors and good stewards of resources. In fact, our data centers are among the most advanced, energy-efficient data center facilities in the world. This 982,000 square foot campus will use 80% less water than the average data center, be LEED Gold certified, and be supported by 100% renewable energy. As of today, we have signed contracts for 220MWs of new solar energy in Tennessee in support of our operations in the area. And we are planning on contracting for even more in preparation for this data center coming online.

We anticipate that more than 1,100 construction workers will be onsite at the peak of construction. We’ll also be hiring for data center jobs including technicians, engineers, construction management, facility managers, logistics professionals, and security personnel. Thank you to the City of Gallatin, the Gallatin Economic Development Agency, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, the Tennessee Valley Authority, and to all of our partners who have helped get us to today. We are so excited to be part of the Gallatin community and look forward to growing this relationship for years to come.
