Montgomery, we’re growing!
Meta is excited to announce that the Montgomery Data Center campus is expanding with two new buildings, bringing the campus footprint to nearly 1.3 million square feet.
This expansion almost doubles our investment for this campus, increasing it to more than $1.5 billion. Together with Meta Huntsville Data Center, Meta data centers in Alabama will now represent a more than $3 billion investment in the state. The Montgomery Data Center supports over 1,000 skilled trade workers on site at peak construction, and once completed, we anticipate it will support more than 100 operational jobs.
Meta has been proud to invest in the Montgomery community over the last year. Meta partnered with local nonprofits on several initiatives, and the Montgomery Public School system for their robotics initiative. This program helps bridge the digital literacy gap and offers hands-on learning experiences for K-12 students in our community. This year Meta supported TechMgm’s STEMfest, the Montgomery Chamber, and next month Meta will be the sponsor of the Alabama National Fair’s VEX Robotics Competition and Hometown Heroes Day which honors first responders, military personnel, and veterans.
Meta also supports the community through the annual Data Center Community Action Grants program funding projects that put technology to use for community benefit, enable people to build strong, sustainable communities, and improve STEAM education. Meta is proud to announce that this program will launch in the local community in 2025.
Meta custom designs and builds our own industry-leading infrastructure at scale. From optimizing data center operations globally, to driving efficiency and sustainability through design improvements and site-specific solutions. Once operational, the Montgomery Data Center will be optimized for our AI workloads and will help people connect, build communities and grow their businesses. The Montgomery Data Center energy use will be matched with 100% clean and renewable energy. New clean and renewable energy projects supported by Meta are adding 227 megawatts in Alabama.
Montgomery has proven to be a perfect home for our data center, and we are excited to be expanding. We are thankful to Secretary Ellen McNair from the Alabama Department of Commerce, Mayor Steven L. Reed of the City of Montgomery, AL, Chairman Doug Singleton of the Montgomery County Commission, President Anna Buckalew from the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce and all of our community partners for all their ongoing support.
