Huntsville, We’re Growing!

In 2018, Meta was thrilled to add Huntsville, Alabama to our family of data centers. Today, Meta is excited to announce that we are expanding the Meta Huntsville Data Center campus with two new buildings, reaching nearly 3.5 million square feet.

This expansion raises our investment in Huntsville to more than $1.5 billion. And once it’s completed, we anticipate the data center will support more than 300 operational jobs.

Meta is committed to playing a positive role and investing in the long-term vitality of communities like Huntsville. Today, Meta is also announcing two new grants for a total of $300,000 in support of local schools and STEM education. Meta is providing $225,000 in support of the Raise Your Hand program with The Schools Foundation, a new initiative that aims to add 500 new National Board Certified Teachers to the Huntsville City, Madison City and Madison County school systems. National Board Certification is the most respected professional certification available in K-12 education. Meta is also providing $75,000 to the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering in support of STEM equipment for the school. With these two grants, Meta has given more than $1.5 million to local schools in Huntsville since 2019.

Meta is also committed to the sustainability of our data centers. By supporting our data centers with 100 percent renewable energy, we are making additional contributions to local economies through investments in new wind and solar projects. The project contracted by Meta has added 227MWs of new renewable energy in Alabama.

Huntsville has proven to be a great home for our data center, and we are excited to be expanding even further. Meta is proud to work alongside the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber, the City of Huntsville, Alabama – Government, and the Huntsville Urban and Economic Development team, and all of our community partners and we are thankful for all their ongoing support.
